Welcome back to the TEFLology Podcast – a podcast all about teaching English as a foreign language, and related matters.

Today we bring you an interview with Dr. Simon Borg.

Simon is a visiting professor at the University of Leeds, and principally works as an ELT consultant. The main focus of his consultancy and academic work today is professional development for English language teachers.

Simon specialises in teacher education and professional development, teacher research, and research methods.

Matthew spoke with Simon in a cafe in Tokyo earlier this Spring. Simon was in Japan to give a presentation titled ‘Taking Stock: An Analysis of the Contemporary Status of Language Teacher Cognition Research,’ a topic of which this interview is largely based on.
